Pull AI risk forward so you can make a better investment decision
Performance-Driven Development brings the biggest risks to the beginning of the work. Our goal is that, by the end of the first 30 days, the people responsible for the investment can inspect a performance report, understand how the system is expected to behave in production and decide whether the opportunity is worth pursuing.
You should not have to wait six months to discover that the organization disagrees about what the AI should do, that essential information is unavailable or that the proposed workflow cannot deliver the impact you had in mind. We want you to make those discoveries early, while you can still change direction without having made a large, open-ended commitment.
Reliability exposes the important questions early
We define reliability in two parts: getting organizational consensus on what the AI should do, then ensuring it does it correctly. Building the workflow and its evaluation framework together makes both questions concrete from the start.
The work can reveal missing data, conflicting operating rules, different expectations among departments or a difficult judgment the system does not yet handle. Those findings help the client decide where to invest and what has to change for the opportunity to work.
This is why reliability is central to our method. It brings business uncertainty into view while engineering is still at an early stage, rather than leaving it hidden behind a polished demonstration or a long development plan.
Give every major stakeholder something concrete to judge
Product, operations, compliance, security, executive leadership, the CTO and other responsible stakeholders participate in defining and assessing the work. Their questions and concerns become representative cases. The client's experts establish what good behavior looks like.
The performance report shows actual inputs, agreed expected behavior, system outputs and where the results differ. Stakeholders can see which cases work, which fail, what information is needed and which decisions remain unresolved. Together with the business opportunity, that gives them a concrete basis for asking:
- Is this how we want the AI to work in our environment?
- Do we see the potential impact that makes the investment worthwhile?
- Which risks have we resolved, and which still need attention?
- Should we continue in this direction, adjust it or invest in a different opportunity?
The report makes expected production behavior inspectable. Production will still introduce new situations, which is why live feedback and rapid improvement remain part of the method.
Keep the investment flexible
The purpose of the early review is to help you make a more informed bet. It creates options: continue with greater understanding, narrow the scope, change an approach or shift Prolego's effort to another project with a better opportunity.
A new finding can change the investment without ending the relationship. We work with you to redirect priorities and apply what we have learned. The business ambition remains large, while the next commitment reflects better information.
That is think big, start small in practice. The first month should reduce the uncertainty around the next investment and give the organization a shared understanding of what it is choosing to do.
Contract terms are a separate discussion
Cancellation terms are negotiated with the rest of the commercial agreement. A cancellation period is often 30 days; a different price or commitment may come with a different period, such as 60 days. The agreed contract governs those terms.
The first-month performance review serves an engineering and investment purpose. Its value is the early visibility and flexibility it gives the client. That purpose remains the same across different commercial arrangements.
Performance-Driven Development explains how we build reliability from the start. Working with Prolego explains the engagement, and business reinvention connects the first investment to the larger opportunity.
